There are many neighborhood parks, a Community Recreation Center, athletic clubs, golf and the nearby beaches at Torrey Pines and Del Mar. An early experimenter in smart growth, Carmel Valley includes open space areas and an extensive trail system.
Carmel Valley real estate offers a wide variety of luxury homes, condominiums and apartments. New homes are always under construction and there's an almost insatiable demand for large executive homes with four-plus bedrooms and three-car garages. The garages are filled with expensive luxury foreign cars. In terms of investment, Carmel Valley real estate has appreciated as much as any neighborhood in San Diego County. Carmel Valley is one of the newer neighborhoods of the City of San Diego, California. It is a master planned community that was formed by the City of San Diego on February 1, 1975, but construction did not start until 1983.[1] The name Carmel Valley comes from the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy, who established a dairy farm and monastery in the area around 1905.[2] Although the area was known locally by the name Carmel Valley, in 1974 the area was given the institutional name "North City West" in the master plan. The name "Carmel Valley" was readopted in the early 1990s.
Carmel Valley is made up of single family homes, condominiums, villas, and townhouses.
The area, positioned roughly half-way up the San Diego County coastline, is convenient to almost everything.
